Job summary

AlphaSense is seeking a Staff Engineer to own and scale identity, authentication, and user management platforms across our global customer base. You’ll shape the roadmap, partner with security teams, and deliver self-service APIs (GraphQL, gRPC, REST) that empower product engineering teams worldwide.

You will collaborate with a Helsinki-based team while leading initiatives from North America, ensuring SOC2 and GDPR alignment and building highly scalable systems for a growing user base.

Qualifications

• Experience building and operating identity, authentication, or authorization platforms at scale.
• Strong security mindset with SOC2/GDPR awareness.
• Proficiency in Java/Spring Boot and cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve the authorization platform (RBAC/ABAC/ReBAC).
• Design, build, and evolve the authentication platform (Auth0 integration).
• Design, build, and evolve the user management platform (provisioning identities).
• Collaborate with security teams to ensure secure-by-design systems aligned with SOC2/GDPR.
• Define long-term roadmap across authentication, authorization, and user management.
• Build self-service APIs (GraphQL, gRPC, REST) for product teams.
• Drive projects autonomously from North America while coordinating with Helsinki.
• Champion testing, observability, and reliability practices.
