Job summary

e123 is a remote-first company based in southern California with a nationwide US-focused workforce. This role can be based anywhere in the US (excluding IN, IL, PA, NE).

You will join a cross-functional engineering team to strengthen DevOps practices and security across our SaaS health insurance platform. You will build and maintain development tools, deploy CI/CD pipelines, and automate infrastructure, while supporting system reliability and performance at scale for a fast-growing insurtech

Qualifications

• Experience deploying highly-available, fault-tolerant SaaS systems.
• Understanding secure deployment and OWASP guidelines.
• Automation of repetitive tasks with scripting (PowerShell, Bash).
• Ability to communicate complex problems clearly to all levels.
• MS Windows Server, IIS and MS applications knowledge.
• Version control experience (Git, Subversion).
• CI/CD experience (Jenkins, TravisCI).
• Disaster Recovery, Redundancy, Scalability knowledge.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote/decentralized environment.

Responsibilities

• Build, integrate, deploy and maintain development tools across code deployment, platform security, source control, and configuration management.
• Participate in system maintenance and uptime activities.
• Implement automation, effective monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Deploy and maintain CI/CD pipelines across environments.
• Iterate on best practices to increase quality and velocity of deployments.
• Have on-call responsibilities in rotation with the engineering team.

Location: e123 is a Work From Anywhere company based in southern California with an entirely remote workforce from all over the US. This role can be based anywhere in the US (with the exception of IN, IL, PA, NE).

e123 is transforming the distribution of health insurance in the United States while creating a new insurtech category. e123 helps businesses manage the complex world of health insurance distribution. We handle $3B in annual premium billings through a network of nearly 400,000 agents. We deliver a single, easy to use platform for clients to distribute and market insurance and benefits products at all levels. We are rapidly expanding our product suite to to address major pain points for enterprise carrier and distribution customers in this market vertical.

This developer will work primarily on projects related to DevOps as well as the security of our platform. Support and work alongside a cross-functional engineering team on the latest technologies.

Role and responsibilities:

• Iterate on best practices to increase the quality & velocity of deployments
• Have on-call responsibilities in rotation with the engineering team

What will help you succeed in this role:

• Experience maintaining and deploying highly-available, fault-tolerant systems at scale, preferably in a SaaS environment
• Understanding of secure systems deployment and software development (ie. OWASP)
• Natural tendency to automate repetitive tasks (e.g. scripting via Powershell, Bash, etc)
• Ability to understand complex problems and communicate them in simple terms to all levels of company
• MS Windows Server, IIS and MS application skills
• Version control system experience (e.g. Subversion, Git)
• Experience implementing CI/CD (e.g. Jenkins, TravisCI)
• Clear understanding of Disaster Recovery, Redundancy, Scalability
• Experience with IT assessments, audits/reviews. (ie. PCI, HIPAA, Best Practices Risk Assessments)
• Ability to learn and apply new technologies through self-learning
• Natural Curiosity and Initiative
• Ability to work effectively in a remote/decentralized environment
