Job summary

Walmart is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role drives the full software lifecycle and applies cloud-native architecture to deliver high-quality, resilient systems from Bentonville, AR.

You will provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate across functions to translate complex business needs into effective technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area.
• Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science... and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
• Option 2: 6 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area; WCAG/Accessibility knowledge valued.

Responsibilities

• Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
• Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
• Lead full software development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
• Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components using multiple programming languages.
• Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate across teams to define technical requirements and optimize development processes using data-driven practices.
