Job summary

Thomson Reuters in Minnesota seeks a Staff Platform Engineer for the Materia AI initiative. You will lead design and evolution of cloud-native platforms supporting generative AI workloads, mentoring teams and enforcing best practices.

Collaborate across AI/ML, frontend, product, and SRE groups to deliver reliable, scalable, secure infrastructure. You’ll own reference CI/CD pipelines, build Go tools, and drive operational excellence with DORA metrics while working in a hybrid, fast-paced

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend/platform engineering, production engineering, or SRE experience.
• Experience building backend services and client interfaces for product teams.
• Deep troubleshooting of DNS, TCP, IP, and TLS; strong problem-solver.
• Extensive cloud-native expertise: containers, orchestration, storage, serverless, IAM, IaC.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and evolution of cloud-native platforms powering AI workloads.
• Mentor engineers, influence architecture, and promote engineering excellence.
• Design and manage reference CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Playwright, Snyk).
• Develop Go CLI tools and services to streamline developer workflows.
• Establish and improve DORA metrics to boost deployment velocity and quality.
• Build scalable, secure production infra using Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, and AI platforms.
