Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) in Denton seeks a Staff Physician III to provide advanced medical care for residents at the Denton State Supported Living Center. The role requires Texas MD/DO licensure, DEA registration, and IPI enrollment with Medicaid/Medicare Part B.

The physician will lead medical services, develop care plans, oversee complex cases, and coordinate with APRNs, PAs, nurses, and external specialists while contributing to compliance with DOJ Settlement Agreement.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a medical doctor by the State of Texas.
• Must have current DEA registration.
• Must possess a National Provider Identifier (NPI) and enroll as Medicaid/Medicare Part B provider.
• Graduation from an accredited medical school with MD/DO.
• Residency-trained; clinical experience; leadership preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on regular basis; may include rotating schedule, overtime.
• Delivers high-quality medical services to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
• Develops and monitors health care plans with measurable goals and interventions.
• Collaborates with APRNs, PAs, RNs, nurses, and specialists as needed.
• Completes required medical documentation and reports; supports DOJ Settlement Agreement goals.
• Participates in interdisciplinary meetings and analyzes health trends.
