Staff Physician - Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Cardiologist

Responsibilities

NORTON CHILDREN’S HEART INSTITUTE, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, and part of Norton Children’s Medical Group, seeks a board-certified or board-eligible pediatric or adult cardiologist specializing in adult congenital heart disease (ACHD), with an academic role at the assistant or associate professor level. The institute is a growing program with outcomes comparable to regional programs. The ideal candidate will join a comprehensive team of 35 pediatric cardiovascular specialists, including three pediatric cardiovascular surgeons. Our cardiologists have expertise in pediatric cardiology, heart failure and transplantation, adult congenital heart disease, interventional cardiology, cardiac imaging, fetal cardiology, telemedicine, and electrophysiology. We also have specialized anesthesiologists and critical care teams.

About The Position

• Open to applicants from adult and pediatric cardiology pathways
• Managing a growing practice with over 1,300 ACHD patients
• Part of a dedicated ACHD team including three ACHD physicians, two nurse practitioners, a nurse clinician, and a social worker
• Involved in ACHD surgical, catheterization, and electrophysiology programs, with capabilities for complex interventions such as transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement and temporary mechanical support (e.g., intra-aortic balloon pump, Impella)
• Collaborate with Norton Heart & Vascular Institute Structural Heart Program for advanced interventions like transcatheter valve replacements and MitraClip
• Coordinate with local hospital’s ventricular assist device program
• Access to new catheterization and electrophysiology labs, and a cardiac intensive care unit
• Utilize CT and MRI with new 3-Tesla Philips MRI scanners; perform transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography
• Opportunity to participate in ACHD travel clinics
