Job description

Responsibilities

NORTON CHILDREN'S HEART INSTITUTE, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, and part of Norton Children's Medical Group, has several opportunities available to join its established team. Our specialized team of providers includes 35 board-certified pediatric cardiologists, advanced practice providers, and support staff. Our cardiologists have expertise in pediatric cardiology, heart failure and transplantation, adult congenital heart disease (ACHD), adult congenital and pediatric interventional cardiology, cardiac imaging, fetal cardiology, telemedicine, and electrophysiology. We also have designated anesthesiologists for cardiac procedures and a specialized critical care team.

  1. Diagnose and treat a variety of outpatient pediatric cardiology conditions at Norton Children's Heart Institute outpatient offices in Western Kentucky.
  2. Ideal candidate has at least one to three years of clinical experience and demonstrated excellence in outpatient pediatric cardiology care.
  3. Supported by on-site clinical support staff and sonographers.
  4. Hold an academic position as an assistant or associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
  5. Join a team providing comprehensive congenital heart disease care, including complex neonatal surgery, pediatric ventricular assist devices, heart transplants, catheterization, and electrophysiology procedures. Our growing practice includes 23 cardiologists, 13 advanced practice providers, and other specialized cardiac staff.
  6. Participate in a busy clinical practice performing over 10,000 echocardiograms annually, including:
  • 3,500 inpatient echocardiograms
  • 2,800 tele-echocardiograms
  • 900 fetal echocardiograms
  • 200 transesophageal echocardiograms
  • Work in the echocardiography laboratory at Norton Children's Hospital, which is accredited in pediatric transthoracic, pediatric transesophageal, and fetal echocardiography by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission. Norton Children's Hospital and Novak Center for Children's Health are accredited Adult Congenital Heart Disease Comprehensive Care Centers by the Adult Congenital Heart Association.
  • Engage in established quality assurance processes aligned with metrics from the American College of Cardiology's Adult Congenital & Pediatric Cardiology Quality Network (QNet).
  • Participate in national registries and collaboratives, including the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Congenital Heart Surgeons Society, Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Consortium (PC4), and the National Pediatric Cardiology-Quality Improvement Collaborative.
  • Explore research opportunities supported by resources available through Norton Children's Research Institute, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine.
