Via Linda Behavioral Hospital in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking a per diem, nonexempt Staff Pharmacist to fill orders with accuracy, supervise technicians, and support daily pharmacy operations. The role uses Omnicell and Cerner including E-Mar and CPOE throughout the hospital.

Pharmacists must hold a BS or PharmD and have experience with MS Office and pharmacy information systems. Inpatient hospital experience and mental health focus are preferred, with competitive hourly pay and comprehensive

Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and dispense medication orders to ensure appropriateness, safety, and accuracy.
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize medication regimens for hospitalized patients.
  • Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, identifying and preventing adverse drug events.
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns, ensuring efficient and compliant workflow.
  • Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, including Joint Commission, state, and federal requirements.

As a per diem, nonexempt Staff Pharmacist, you will fill orders with accuracy; check technician-prepared products before release; maintain the security of pharmacy and controlled substances; enter orders and patient information with accuracy; aid in the training of new staff; update the Director about the daily activities of the pharmacy; and aid the Director in maintaining the pharmacy. The pharmacy utilizes Omnicell and Cerner including E-Mar and CPOE.

About the Facility:

Via Linda Behavioral Hospital is a 120-bed hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona, specializing in mental health services and substance use treatment for teens and adults experiencing issues such as depression, anxiety, personality disorders and co-occurring addictions.

Pharmacy Hours:

Pharmacy hours are Monday-Friday from 6:30am-9:30pm. Saturday and Sunday hours 8am-2pm.

Schedule:

This per diem, nonexempt position will provide coverage to cover PTO, weekends and holidays as needed. There are no regularly scheduled hours for this position.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Review, verify, and dispense medication orders to ensure appropriateness, safety, and accuracy
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize medication regimens for hospitalized patients
  • Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, identifying and preventing adverse drug events
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns, ensuring efficient and compliant workflow
  • Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, including Joint Commission, state, and federal requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • BS or PharmD from an accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Experience using MS Office and pharmacy information systems
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in an inpatient hospital environment
  • Experience in mental health and/or substance abuse disorders
  • Demonstrated accuracy and timeliness in a work setting
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond to client concerns

The hourly pay for this role will range from $44 - $79 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
