This full-time role is ideal for a licensed professional passionate about improving community health outcomes through safe dispensing practices, compassionate patient counseling, and proactive clinical care.

Staff Pharmacist - FT at CVS Health in Plano, TX: Role Overview

As a Staff Pharmacist, you will play a pivotal role in cultivating a culture of excellence within your assigned pharmacy. Acting as a role model for the entire team, you will support the Pharmacy Manager in directing daily operations and overseeing the pharmacy as a proxy during bench shifts. Your primary objective is to ensure the safe and appropriate dispensing of medications while delivering genuine, authentic care to every patient who walks through the door.

Core Responsibilities
  • Clinical Care & Dispensing: Manage and improve patient health through safe dispensing, comprehensive counseling, and administering immunizations. You will also support clinical care services such as testing and prescribing where permissible.
  • Operational Oversight: Assume the Pharmacy Manager's day-to-day duties when serving as the primary pharmacist-on-duty. Strengthen performance metrics by coaching team members and providing constructive feedback.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure accurate prescription fulfillment by following workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails. Comply with all applicable state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues to the Pharmacy Manager or Rx DL as needed.
  • Inventory Management: Coach the team on inventory best practices, with a specialized focus on protecting cold chain products to ensure medication efficacy and business integrity.
  • Patient Experience: Proactively resolve insurance and medication issues, demonstrate empathetic care, and collaborate with patients' broader healthcare teams to foster positive experiences.
  • Professional Development: Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through company-required trainings and CMEs. Actively seek opportunities to expand your knowledge to better support patients as the industry evolves.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Pharmacist License in the state of Texas
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Must not be on the DEA Excluded Parties list
  • Regular, predictable attendance, including weekend availability
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of related experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Flexibility to work in other locations across the market as business needs dictate
Compensation & Benefits

This full-time position offers a competitive base pay ranging from $60.00 to $76.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, and geography. The role is also eligible for a CVS Health bonus or short-term incentive program. Furthermore, this position comes with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, retirement savings options, and wellness programs.

The official application deadline for this opening is December 3, 2026.

Application Tips for Pharmacy Professionals

Securing a Staff Pharmacist role requires demonstrating both clinical proficiency and leadership capability. When preparing your application, emphasize any experience overseeing pharmacy technicians, managing cold chain inventory, or independently handling bench shifts. Highlight specific instances where you intervened to resolve complex insurance prior authorization issues or improved pharmacy performance metrics.

From a technical standpoint, ensure your resume explicitly lists your active state license number, NPI, and any relevant continuing education (CME) credits related to immunization delivery or hormonal contraception prescribing. Familiarity with safety guardrails at dispensing workstations and proficiency in clinical platforms commonly used in retail pharmacy settings will strongly reinforce your candidacy.

Joining CVS Health means becoming part of an organization dedicated to simplifying health care one community at a time. If you meet the qualifications and are ready to make a meaningful impact, this role offers a compelling career trajectory.
