Job description

CVS Health is focused on transforming health care by improving access, lowering costs, and being a trusted partner for every meaningful moment of health. The Staff Pharmacist - FT role in Plano, TX places you at the forefront of that mission — dispensing medication safely, delivering immunizations, and coaching a team to provide compassionate, high-quality care.

Staff Pharmacist - FT at CVS Health in Plano, TX: What to Expect

Within CVS Health's Retail locations, Staff Pharmacists act as role models who demonstrate genuine care and set the bar for the pharmacy team. You will support the Pharmacy Manager in leading and directing daily operations, and when serving as the primary pharmacist-on-duty, you will assume the Pharmacy Manager's day-to-day duties. This includes ensuring safe prescription fulfillment, delivering immunizations, managing inventory, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues for your patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help manage and improve patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
  • Oversee the pharmacy during bench shifts without overlap, coaching team members and providing performance feedback to the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails at every workstation to ensure accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, collaborating with the patient's total healthcare team, and resolving insurance or medication issues proactively.
  • Deliver clinical care services such as testing and prescribing (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception) where permissible, and engage Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
  • Support inventory management best practices, with special focus on protecting cold chain products.
  • Partner with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues as needed.
  • Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through required trainings and CMEs as the industry evolves.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Pharmacist License in the state of Texas.
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • Must not be on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including weekends.

One to two years of related work experience in a retail or medical setting is preferred but not strictly required. You must also be comfortable with the physical demands of the role, which include remaining upright for extended periods, lifting up to 20 lbs occasionally, and performing tasks requiring close visual acuity.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time role with anticipated weekly hours of 35. The typical pay range falls between $60.00 and $76.00 per hour, depending on experience and education. This role is also eligible for a CVS Health bonus or short-term incentive program.

Full-time colleagues receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, retirement savings options, and wellness programs supporting physical, emotional, and financial well-being.

Tips to Strengthen Your Application

Standing out in the Hospitals and Health Care industry requires showcasing both clinical proficiency and leadership capabilities. Here is how you can prepare:

  • Highlight Clinical Skills: Emphasize your experience with immunization delivery, cold chain inventory management, and point-of-care testing.
  • Showcase Regulatory Knowledge: Demonstrate your understanding of state Board of Pharmacy regulations and controlled substance dispensing protocols.
  • Emphasize Empathy: Use your cover letter or resume summary to share examples of how you proactively resolved complex insurance issues or challenging patient interactions.
  • Update Your NPI Status: Ensure your National Provider Identifier is active and easily verifiable before submitting your application.

If you are ready to be part of a team that values genuine care, accountability, and safety, prepare your credentials and take the next step in your pharmacy career with CVS Health.
