Qualifications

• Pharmacy degree from an accredited college.
• Active Virginia pharmacist license in good standing.
• 2+ years of experience in retail or community pharmacy.
• Strong multitasking across verification, counseling, and prescriber calls without loss of accuracy.
• Patient-centered care and counseling.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Verify correct drugs, dosages, administration and strength.
• Provide pharmacy services and counseling to patients and prescribers.
• Prepare, check and release non-sterile compounded preparations.
• Serve as a point of contact for physician offices and resolve prescription discrepancies.
• Complete quality control checks and documentation.
• Direct and support pharmacy technicians on shift.
• Manage medication storage, handling and inventory accuracy for the day.

Job description

We are currently supporting an independently owned community and compounding pharmacy, over 100 years old, operating a 503A non sterile pharmacy in Northern Virginia that is looking to engage a Part Time Staff Pharmacist.

This is a busy community pharmacy where you will be verifying, compounding, counseling and fielding prescriber calls in the same hour, so strong multitasking in a retail setting matters. Compounding experience is a plus, not a requirement: if you have never compounded, the pharmacy will train you, and the paid hands on training is a credential you keep. There are no district metrics, no immunization quotas and no drive thru. This is not a chain floor with a corporate scorecard. This is a patient facing seat inside a long established independent pharmacy, for a pharmacist who wants three days a week, flexible days and no weekends or nights.

Part time, three days per week, 24 to 32 hours, days arranged around your availability, no weekends and no night shifts.

• 2 or more years of experience in retail or community pharmacy

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Detail oriented and organized in a fast paced environment

Preferred Experience

• Non sterile compounding experience and familiarity with USP <795>
• DC or Maryland licensure
• Experience with LifeFile or similar pharmacy software
