We are expanding our team and seeking a detail-oriented Staff Pharmacist to support our prescription verification, dispensing, and sterile compounding operations.
Position Overview
As a Staff Pharmacist specializing in sterile compounding, you will play an important role in ensuring the safety, quality, and accuracy of patient-specific compounded preparations.
You will evaluate and verify prescriptions, review compounding records, perform final pharmacist verification, provide patient counseling, and support sterile compounding activities in accordance with applicable pharmacy laws, USP standards, and West Egg Pharmacy procedures.

Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and verify patient-specific prescriptions for completeness, clinical appropriateness, dosing, calculations, allergies, interactions, contraindications, and other drug utilization review requirements.
- Review master formulation records, compounding records, calculations, component information, beyond-use dates, labels, and required quality-control documentation.
- Perform final pharmacist verification of compounded sterile preparations, prescription labels, packaging, ancillary supplies, and applicable shipping requirements before dispensing.
- Perform assigned sterile compounding activities in accordance with USP <797>, applicable USP <800> requirements, pharmacy law, and established procedures.
- Follow required aseptic technique, hand hygiene, garbing, material-transfer, cleaning, disinfection, and vial-filling procedures.
- Provide patient counseling and respond to clinical questions from patients, caregivers, prescribers, and other authorized healthcare professionals.
- Identify and promptly report prescription discrepancies, process deviations, environmental excursions, documentation errors, and potential patient-safety concerns.
- Assist with quality-control activities, investigations, audits, recalls, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely prescription, compounding, verification, and dispensing records.
- Collaborate with pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, quality personnel, and pharmacy leadership to support safe and efficient operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted Arizona pharmacist license by the start of pharmacist duties.
- Experience:
- Prior sterile compounding or sterile-product verification experience strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of USP <797>, aseptic processing, prescription verification, and cleanroom standards.
- Experience with vial filling, patient-specific sterile preparations, compounding records, and quality-control documentation is highly desirable.
- Ability to complete West Egg Pharmacy's required sterile compounding training and competency assessments.
- Skills: Exceptional accuracy, clinical judgment, attention to detail, communication, organization, and collaboration.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM. Occasional schedule adjustments may be required based on operational, training, inspection, or patient-care needs.
- Location: Desert Ridge, AZ (in-person and cleanroom environment).
- Must comply with applicable personnel hygiene, garbing, training, and cleanroom-access requirements.
