Job summary

Digital Dynamics Inc. in Scotts Valley, CA, seeks a Staff PCB Layout Engineer to lead complex PCB layouts for high-performance control systems.

You will translate schematics into optimized, manufacturable designs across multi-layer boards, ensuring SI/EMI and reliable thermal performance. You will partner with Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, and Manufacturing teams to deliver robust layouts, define stack-ups with vendors, and produce complete manufacturing packages including Gerber/ODB++

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in PCB design and layout.
• Advanced experience with Altium Designer (or similar PCB CAD tools).
• Strong expertise in multi-layer design (6+ layers), signal integrity, EMI/EMC, and thermal performance.
• Experience creating full design release packages (Gerber/ODB++, fab and assembly drawings).
• Deep understanding of DFM/DFA principles.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex, multi-layer PCB layouts (mixed signal, power, high-speed).
• Translate schematics into optimized layouts with focus on SI, EMI/EMC, and thermal.
• Own PCB layout specialization and drive best practices across designs.
• Prepare and release manufacturing packages with Gerber/ODB++ outputs and doc.
• Define stack-ups, materials, and fabrication requirements with EE and vendors.
• Apply DFM/DFA principles for efficient fabrication and assembly.
• Maintain PCB libraries and symbols/footprints (Altium).
• Collaborate with ME on enclosure, fit, and thermal constraints.
• Support prototype builds, debug, and root-cause analysis for PCB issues.
• Coordinate with CM/fabricators to resolve design/production challenges.
• Contribute to ongoing PCB standards, tools, and process improvements.
