The Staff Nurse in the Trauma Program at Elmhurst Hospital Center delivers professional nursing care to patients in a fast-paced unit, diagnosing and treating health problems through established nursing methods.

This role emphasizes interdisciplinary teamwork, developing and evaluating the nursing regimen, recording care plans, providing patient teaching, and maintaining professional competence through ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA)

Responsibilities

• Identify and discriminate between physical and psycho-social signs and symptoms.
• Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate the nursing regimen for assigned patients/clients.
• Record and maintain nursing care plans and progress notes on patients/clients.
• Interpret and report responses of patients/clients to appropriate members of the health team.
• Participate with interdisciplinary health team members to plan a comprehensive patient care program.
• Determine and assign components of the nursing regimen to allied nursing personnel.
• Provide teaching, guidance, and direction to allied nursing personnel in patient care.
• Participate in defining, implementing, maintaining, and interpreting standards of nursing practice.
• Participate in departmental and interdisciplinary conferences regarding nursing practice policies.
• Maintain professional competence through participation in continuing education and learning experiences.

About This Role

The Staff Nurse in the Trauma Program provides professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit, diagnosing and treating health problems through various nursing methods and techniques. This role is ideal for nurses who are dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

• Department/Unit: TRAUMA PROGRAM
• Schedule: Full-Time, Day shift (7:00 A.M – 3:30 P.M)

What You'll Do
