The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Staff Nurse (RN) for the Postpartum unit at University Hospital. This role provides direct patient care to postpartum patients and families, while coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, quality outcomes.

Third shift, 36 hours per week, with a focus on family-centered care. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, delegation and evaluation of nursing care, along with supervision of other nursing

Competenze

• Degree in Nursing from a CCNE or ACEN accredited program is required.
• Current Ohio license or interim permit is required.
• Experience in a relevant care setting is preferred.

Mansioni

• Provide and supervise direct nursing care to postpartum patients and families.
• Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, delegate and evaluate the nursing care of patients.
• Collaborate with obstetric physicians, nurse midwives, pediatric providers, social workers and lactation consultants.

Scope of Position:

The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization, The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost effective care.

Position Summary:

The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.

Required Qualifications

Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program required. Current Ohio license or interim permit. *Experience in relevant care setting preferred.

The OSU postpartum unit features 49 private rooms designed to support a truly family‑centered experience, encouraging birth parents and infants to remain together throughout their stay. Our nursing team partners closely with OB physicians, nurse midwives, pediatric providers, social workers, case managers, and lactation consultants, and collaborates daily with UCAs and PCAs to deliver coordinated, compassionate, and comprehensive care.
