Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, OH, is seeking a Staff Nurse to provide comprehensive patient care and collaborate with the care team in the peri anesthesia unit. Scope of Position:

The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization, The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care.

Position Summary:

The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.

For Hire:

• 2- year College Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a major in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is preferred.
• Current Ohio license or interim permit required.
• 2 years of experience in relevant care setting is preferred.

On-going:

Maintains current Ohio RN license. Meets mandatory educational and health requirements. Demonstrates computer skills required to meet job functions.

Unit Description: The Peri anesthesia unit within University Hospital spans across care of patients during their preoperative experience leading up to a procedure or operation and following with phase I and phase II care following surgery or operation. Our team strives to provide high-quality, reliable, and safe care during the perioperative experience.
