Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Ross Heart Hospital OP&R unit to provide direct patient care and lead nursing support teams.

The Staff Nurse will assess, plan, implement, coordinate, delegate and evaluate nursing care in alignment with the professional practice model, ensuring high-quality outcomes and patient safety.

Anchored by a valid Ohio RN license with or without interim permit, candidates with 2 years of relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Nursing from a CCNE or ACEN accredited program is required.
• 2 years of experience in relevant care setting is preferred.
• Current Ohio RN license or interim permit required.

Scope of Position

The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization, The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care.

Position Summary

The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.

Minimum Qualifications

• Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a major in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is preferred.
• Current Ohio license or interim permit required.
• 2 years of experience in relevant care setting is preferred.

On-going: Maintains current Ohio RN license. Meets mandatory educational and health requirements. Demonstrates computer skills required to meet job functions

Unit Description

The Ross Heart Hospital Operating Room Prep and Recovery (OPR) Unit supports pre-operative and post-anesthesia care for non-ICU surgical patients in the Ross Operating Rooms. With six bays, the unit is staffed by a skilled team of Registered Nurses who work closely together to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate care.
