Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus in Topeka, KS is seeking a day shift, full-time Post Surgical Medical Surgical Registered Nurse to coordinate safe patient care for diverse patient populations.

The RN assesses needs, develops goals, and updates the care plan to meet biological, emotional, psychosocial, and educational needs of patients and families. The role requires Kansas RN licensure and BLS within 14 days of hire; ACLS is required for Tele, ICU, and PCU, and oncology

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in nursing is required.
• Current Kansas RN Licensure.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role.
• Tele, ICU and PCU require ACLS.
• Post Surgery requires oncology certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate safe patient care delivery for specified and diverse patient populations.
• Assess patient/family needs, develop and prioritize patient goals, and revise care plans.
• Evaluate care delivery and ensure alignment with the plan of care.
• Delegate care as appropriate to optimize patient outcomes.
• Adhere to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse functions under the direction of the Nurse Director/Manager and is responsible for coordination of safe patient care delivery for specified and diverse patient populations. The RN assesses patient/family needs, develops and prioritizes patient goals, evaluates care delivery, and continually revised the plan of care to meet the biological, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, developmental, and educational needs of the patient/family. The RN Delegates care as appropriate to optimize patient outcomes. The RN adheres to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications

Job Requirements: Associate’s degree in nursing Current Kansas RN Licensure. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care Tele, ICU and PCU require ACLS Post Surgery requires oncology certification. All required certifications must be completed within first year of employment Preferred Job Requirements: At least one-year recent experience in a similar healthcare setting.
