Job description

Staff Nurse - NICU - MSW - Full-time Night

Join Mount Sinai as a Staff Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), working full-time night shifts. Be responsible for patient care activities, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, and intervention for assigned patients. Collaborate with the care team to ensure high-quality care and effective discharge planning. Demonstrate professional nursing behaviors reflecting scientific knowledge, judgment, and teaching skills.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments through interviews, examinations, observations, and record reviews.
  2. Document patient progress and update care plans accordingly.
  3. Plan discharges considering patient status and interdepartmental communication.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients based on their awareness and learning readiness.
  5. Support orientation and mentorship of new staff, students, and volunteers.
  6. Assign patient care based on needs and staff skill levels.
  7. Organize care delivery to meet patient priorities and unit requirements.
  8. Report patient and unit conditions requiring intervention to leadership.
  9. Participate in staff development and practice evaluation.
  10. Ensure accountability and quality in task completion.
  11. Identify staff educational needs and communicate to supervisors.
  12. Engage with nursing leadership and utilize their expertise.
  13. Collaborate with other disciplines to meet patient and unit needs.
  14. Uphold the philosophy and objectives of the Nursing Department and Hospital.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing program, BSN preferred.
  • Current RN licensure (e.g., RN license from DOH/Office of Professions).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification for relevant departments.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of 1 year NICU experience.
Compensation

The hourly salary is $61.76, with actual pay based on experience and qualifications. Benefits and additional compensation details are provided upon hiring.
