Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Illinois seeks a clinically competent registered nurse to provide nursing care to acutely ill patients using the nursing process—assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation—with emphasis on safety and quality.

You will perform phone triage, review abnormal test results, educate patients and families, coordinate discharge planning and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to maintain high standards of care and compassionate service.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Illinois.
• Current or recent nursing experience (within past five years) or new graduate (within past two years).
• CPR – Basic Life Support certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs all aspects of patient care using evidence-based practice to optimize safety and outcomes.
• Administers medications following the six rights and patient age/condition considerations.
• Assesses and plans individualized care, including teaching, discharge planning and follow-up needs.
• Explains procedures and therapies to patients and families; documents responses.
• Participates in ongoing quality improvement and interprofessional collaboration.
