Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Network Engineer to support the ICBM Sustainment Team in a 24/7 NOC environment in Clearfield, UT. The role requires advanced networking expertise, DoD compliance, and leadership to mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network configurations, guiding incident resolution, and ensuring adherence to RMF/NIST standards while collaborating with ISSM and SOC teams.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's; 10+ with a Masters; 8+ with a PhD
• Experience leading a team and mentoring junior engineers
• DoD 8140 Certification for IAT Level II or higher within two months
• Advanced network certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP)
• Expert understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs)
• Knowledge of network management tools like SolarWinds and Cisco/Juniper tools
• Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain DoD Secret clearance
• Experience in 24/7 Network Operations Center environments

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of industry and DoD trends in network frameworks and analytics
• Lead diagnosis and resolution of critical network incidents to minimize downtime
• Perform deep-dive network performance analyses and identify optimization areas
• Design, implement, and maintain network configurations and upgrades
• Ensure network security standards and contribute to security policy development
• Provide SME-level support and guidance to teams
• Oversee patch management and vulnerability remediation
• Document configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures
• Develop runbooks and SOPs for all network services and devices
• Collaborate with ISSM and SOC Lead to ensure compliant operations
