Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional mobile development experience with 5+ years on React Native.
• Proficiency in Swift and native iOS development.
• Deep knowledge of iOS SDK, UIKit, SwiftUI, memory management, and concurrency.
• Experience designing scalable mobile architectures and reusable components.
• Experience leading architecture for large-scale mobile apps.
• Ability to balance React Native and native implementations.
• Expertise in App Store release management and mobile governance.
• Strong security, performance, and reliability focus.
• Experience with deep linking, push notifications, and background processing.

GSD Search is partnering with a financial services client to hire a Staff Mobile Engineer to help deliver a brand-new mobile application and shape its long-term technical direction.

This is a greenfield development opportunity in a market where many customer experiences still depend on advisors and phone-based processes. Our client is building a modern mobile offering that gives customers more direct access to financial products—bringing a digital experience to an industry where mobile innovation remains uncommon.

The application is already under development and approaching its initial launch, with iOS as the first priority. As the most senior mobile engineer, you’ll combine hands‑on development with architectural ownership and technical leadership. You’ll join a small team supported by an engineering manager and product manager.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the architecture for React Native and native iOS applications, balancing immediate delivery needs with long-term scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Lead implementation of complex mobile features and business‑critical initiatives.
• Build reusable platform components, native modules, and consistent styling systems.
• Improve application performance, reliability, memory usage, and battery efficiency.
• Lead architecture reviews and establish engineering standards and best practices.
• Drive testing strategy, mobile automation, CI/CD improvements, and App Store release quality.
• Strengthen monitoring and observability to identify and resolve production issues.
• Partner with Product, Design, Backend, Platform, and Security teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Mentor engineers, document architectural decisions, and build alignment across teams.
• Make pragmatic scope and technical decisions that support timely delivery of quality software.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional mobile development experience, including 5+ years of production React Native development.
• Expert proficiency in Swift and native iOS development.
• Deep understanding of the iOS SDK, UIKit, SwiftUI, application lifecycle, memory management, and concurrency.
• Experience designing scalable mobile architectures, reusable platform components, and styling systems using Uniwind/Tailwind.
• Experience leading architecture for large‑scale production mobile applications.
• Ability to evaluate when to use React Native versus native implementation.
• Expertise in App Store release management, mobile platform governance, and Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines.
• Strong understanding of mobile security, encryption, performance optimization, and reliability.
• Experience with deep linking, push notifications, and background processing.
• Experience integrating RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
• Familiarity with Git collaboration workflows, testing frameworks, mobile automation, and CI/CD tools such as Expo and GitLab.
• Experience with performance monitoring and observability tools.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and the ability to influence decisions across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Financial services or other regulated product experience.
• Experience with Firebase, Sentry, or similar monitoring platforms.
• Understanding of accessibility standards and tools, including WCAG and VoiceOver.
• Familiarity with mobile analytics and A/B testing platforms.
• Contributions to open‑source mobile projects.
