Atoms is building the machines that power the next era of progress. We are seeking a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer focused on Perception to shape how raw sensor data becomes rich representations of the physical world.

You will influence perception architectures across camera, LiDAR, radar, and audio sensors, collaborating with AI research, robotics, autonomy, and engineering leaders. This deeply technical role offers ownership over architecture, experimentation, and deployment

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in machine learning and computer vision for perception systems.
• Modern deep learning architectures applied to visual and multimodal perception.
• Experience with real-world sensor modalities (cameras, LiDAR, radar, audio, depth).
• Experience with sensor fusion, multimodal learning, 3D perception, or related areas.
• Strong understanding of the ML lifecycle from data strategy to deployment.
• Design ML systems under real-world latency, compute, reliability constraints.
• Hands-on software engineering in Python and/or C++.
• Track record of technical leadership and architectural decision-making.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas across research and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and build the technical architecture for next-generation perception systems.
• Develop ML pipelines transforming multimodal sensor inputs into representations of the environment.
• Advance multi-sensor fusion for complex real-world environments.
• Design deep learning architectures for 3D perception, segmentation, tracking, and scene understanding.
• Explore foundation models and world models to augment perception stacks.
• Build perception systems that support downstream reasoning and control models.
• Make architecture decisions spanning data, model design, training, and deployment.
• Balance model quality with latency and compute constraints in real machines.
