Grubhub Holdings Inc. seeks a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to own the architecture of the ranking, retrieval, and recommendation stack across discovery. The role is hands-on with technical leadership, guiding model families and systems, while mentoring engineers and shaping roadmaps with product and data teams.

You will drive offline/online evaluation, apply state-of-the-art IR and NLP research, and ensure scalable, observable production systems with strong deployment practices.

Qualificações

• MS/PhD in a quantitative discipline or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years building and shipping ML systems; 3+ years in senior scope across teams.
• Deep experience in recommendation, ranking, or information retrieval at scale.
• Production DL with TensorFlow or PyTorch in GPU environments.
• Experience with LLMs and transformer architectures; fine-tuning and embedding gen.
• Strong data engineering and Python data stack skills.

Responsabilidades

• Own architecture of ranking and recommendation stack end-to-end.
• Lead cross-system design calls and set technical direction.
• Bring state-of-the-art IR and recommender research into runtime.
• Define offline evaluation and online experimentation for trustable results.
• Raise engineering standards: monitoring, SLOs, and debt management.
• Mentor engineers and participate in hiring; collaborate with execs.
