Coinbase is hiring a Staff Machine Learning Engineer for Compliance Automation (Platform). This remote-USA role focuses on building Agentic AI systems to automate compliance workflows, from investigation to decision support, with auditable and regulatorily defensible outputs.

You will own ML architecture, guide model selection, grounding, and guardrails, and mentor engineers on responsible AI practices, while collaborating with Compliance, Legal, and Operations teams.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years in ML and software engineering, shipping production ML/Agentic AI systems.
• Experience with LLM applications, prompts, grounding, and guardrails.
• Proven ability to build evaluation/monitoring for ML in production.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build production Agentic AI systems for compliance automation.
• Own ML direction for compliance agents including model selection and guardrails.
• Design evaluation frameworks to measure performance, detect drift, and ensure auditability.
