Coinbase is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to advance compliance automation with Agentic AI, building production-ready AI systems and decision-support workflows. You will own ML architecture, grounding strategies, and evaluation methods to ensure regulatorily defensible outputs.

The role requires 8+ years of ML and software engineering experience, deep expertise in LLM applications, and strong Python proficiency.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in machine learning and software engineering; production ML experience.
• LLM-based or Agentic AI apps shipped to production required.
• Strong Python, GenAI frameworks, and ML infrastructure knowledge.
• Experience with compliance, regulatory tech, or regulated domains preferred.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build production Agentic AI systems for compliance automation.
• Own ML technical direction for compliance agents; model selection and guardrails.
• Design evaluation frameworks to measure agent performance and detect drift.
• Translate regulatory workflows into automatable specs with stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers on ML system design and responsible AI practices.
