Job summary

Wayve in Sunnyvale is seeking a Senior/Staff Machine Learning Engineer for the AV Core team. You will lead the technical direction and delivery of learned emergency manoeuvre prediction and collision detection models across a global fleet, from problem definition through modeling, evaluation, and deployment.

You will own Core Model Safety initiatives, work with research and product teams, and mentor others while applying large-scale data and rigorous experimentation to advance autonomous driving.

Qualifications

• Strong track record of ML engineering in ambiguous problems and ability to drive direction and knowledge transfer.
• Hands-on experience with ML systems deployed in the real world.
• Proficiency in Python and PyTorch with solid software engineering practices.
• Excellent experimental judgment with falsifiable hypotheses and rigorous ablations.
• Senior-level ownership and ability to lead a technical area across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction and delivery of learned emergency manoeuvre prediction and collision detection models.
• Train and deploy end-to-end AV models for emergency manoeuvres across a global fleet.
• Collaborate on online occupancy models for geometric and semantic perception.
• Build high-value evaluations for core capabilities and representation learning.
• Align priorities across AV Core, Evaluation, and Product Engineering; mentor others.
• Maintain awareness of wider business context and product roadmaps.
