Job summary

Wayve is hiring a Staff Machine Learning Engineer in Sunnyvale to lead the technical direction of a learned emergency trajectory model. You will guide problem definition through modelling, evaluation, integration, and deployment across AV Core with cross-team collaboration.

The role demands expertise in trajectory-generation, behavior cloning, RL, and Python/PyTorch, with strong communication and safety-focused decision-making. Hybrid office-work model with strong equity prospects.

Qualifications

• Staff-level technical leadership for ambiguous ML programmes and production deployment.
• Deep expertise in learned trajectory-generation or policy models for embodied systems.
• Hands-on experience with behaviour cloning and reinforcement learning in ML systems.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical strategy and roadmap for the emergency trajectory model and its interfaces.
• Design and train trajectory-generating policies with evidence-based methods.
• Build a data strategy for rare emergency cases, including simulation and augmentation.
• Create rigorous evaluations for collision avoidance and recovery in nominal driving.
• Lead integration into the shared driving stack and mentor teams.
