Wayve is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer for the Core Model Safety team in Sunnyvale. You will shape what our end-to-end driving model must understand to be safe and reliable in the real world, and translate that into trained capabilities and evidence on the backbone across core and product engineering.

You will lead senior, research-literate work, with access to large-scale data, hands-on experience with transformers and multimodal architectures, and collaboration across research,

Qualifications

• 5+ years in ML engineering with problem scoping and direction setting.
• Proficient in Python and C++/CUDA; strong software engineering practices.
• Experience with transformer-based and multimodal architectures, including VLM/VLA.

Responsibilities

• Drive Core Model Safety roadmap from research to deployment.
• Train and deploy end-to-end AV 2.0 models on global fleet.
• Build evaluations for core capabilities and representation learning.
• Mentor others and align with cross-functional teams across AV Core, Evaluation, and Product Engineering.
• Maintain awareness of business context and product priorities.
