Job summary

Reddit is seeking a founding Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead the development, training, and optimization of models for AI security. This is a strategic, hands-on IC role with ownership of model architecture, data, and experiments, plus technical leadership across teams.

You will help Reddit deliver stronger AI protections while preserving a high-quality product experience. Expect collaboration with cross-functional partners and mentoring of engineers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience developing ML models with production impact.
• Strong Python skills and deep learning framework expertise.
• Experience building scalable data pipelines and training workflows.

Responsibilities

• Select, adapt, fine-tune, evaluate, and deploy pretrained models for security tasks.
• Build reproducible training/evaluation pipelines on Reddit’s ML platform.
• Set multi-quarter modeling roadmap with cross-functional teams.
• Perform model evaluations to improve accuracy and robustness.
• Own data quality and production model lifecycle, including retraining.
• Establish best practices for responsible ML development and data use.
• Stay current with NLP/LLMs and translate advances into improvements.
• Mentor engineers and lead technical reviews for ML security direction.
