Job summary

Boston Dynamics seeks a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join the Central Hardware team, researching fundamental technology and delivering solutions for multiple projects. You will collaborate with electrical and software engineers, subject matter experts, and production teams to implement integrated mechanical systems.

You will lead subsystems from concept through production, balance torque, stiffness, mass, thermal behavior and tolerances, and apply simulation tools to validate designs.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4–6 years of related experience, or 2+ years with advanced degree.
• Proven ability to lead designs through full development cycle.

Responsibilities

• Support rapid brainstorming and prototyping of new technology across a variety of disciplines.
• Partner closely with electrical engineers, software engineers and subject matter experts to solve complex real-world system engineering problems.
• Lead mechanical design efforts for key subsystems, from early concept through production.
• Balance performance, manufacturability, and reliability across a range of mechanical requirements—torque, stiffness, mass, thermal behavior, and tolerance stack-ups.
• Use simulation and analysis tools to guide decisions and validate your designs.
