Job summary

Form Energy in Somerville, MA is hiring a Staff Materials Engineer to join our Anode Design and Performance Team, developing iron electrode materials and validating them through lab and field tests.

You will design property-to-performance relationships, perform electrochemical tests, and lead cross-functional projects while mentoring teammates. Relocation support is available and travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience spanning materials engineering and electrochemical/battery systems.
• Ability to build property-to-performance relationships through experiments.
• Hands-on materials processing and testing for electrochemical devices.
• Experience with RCA and FMEA methods.
• Strong communication and ability to collaborate across locations; travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety during electrochemical testing and battery operation.
• Create materials specifications for iron electrode components and define inspection methods.
• Design, execute, and interpret electrochemical tests in lab and field deployments.
• Document Root Cause Analyses and FMEAs and drive corrective actions.
• Lead cross-functional projects and mentor team members.
