Job summary

Form Energy is hiring a Staff Materials Engineer to join our Air Electrode Engineering team in Weirton, WV. You will ensure performance, reliability, and scalability of electrode designs on mass manufacturing lines, working with vendors and manufacturing staff to move materials from prototype to production.

You will lead material characterization development, apply DOE to set specs, and drive early stage to high-volume production with strong engineering judgment and cross-functional

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 7+ years in materials science/engineering or related field.
• 3+ years product development experience transitioning materials to high-volume manufacturing.
• Experience planning engineering trials via DOE and interpreting data with JMP/Minitab.
• Experience using FMEA and RCA to mitigate risks.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Partner with vendors and engineers to transition materials from prototype to high-volume production.
• Own design and validation of electrode materials; balance performance, cost, and manufacturability.
• Lead hands-on design efforts including prototyping, failure analysis, spec-setting, and material evaluation.
• Develop and implement material characterization techniques for in-line quality control.
• Apply engineering judgment to disposition decisions on materials from production lines.
