Shield AI in the United States seeks a Staff Engineer to lead the technical delivery of autonomy capabilities for maritime platforms. You will guide teams across perception, planning, simulation, hardware, and test, delivering scalable autonomy solutions for USVs, UUVs, and cooperative UAVs while balancing theory with practical execution. Willingness to travel ~25% and obtain necessary clearances is expected.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in CS/EE/ME/Aerospace or equivalent experience.
• Typically 7+ years with a BA; or 6+ years with MS; or 4+ with PhD.
• Proficient in C++ and Python; RTOS experience; robotics background.

Responsabilités

• Robust motion planning for USVs/UUVs and cooperative vehicles.
• Localization, tracking, and sensor fusion for multi-agent networks.
• Safe maritime operations with COLREGS adherence.
• Develop distributed optimization and task allocation for heterogenous teams.
• Write high-performance, well-tested software with clear interfaces.
• Collaborate with perception, planning, simulation, hardware and test teams.
• Deploy capabilities to real surface vehicles and analyze mission logs.
• Contribute to autonomy roadmaps and new algorithm prototyping.
