Job summary

Intellias is seeking a Staff Interoperability Engineer for a remote-from-Spain engagement to architect and scale healthcare interoperability solutions in a national U.S. healthcare ecosystem.

You will lead technical direction on FHIR implementations, API architecture, and interoperability tooling while solving complex data exchange challenges. You will work in a AI‑native engineering environment, blending hands-on coding with broad technical influence across FHIR resources, US Core and USCDI

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in healthcare interoperability, Health IT, backend engineering, or distributed integration platforms.
• Staff-level technical ownership of complex interoperability platforms and production healthcare integration solutions.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience implementing FHIR-based solutions, including production FHIR R4 implementations.
• Experience integrating multiple EHR/EMR platforms (Epic, Oracle Health Cerner, Allscripts, athenahealth, etc.).
• Experience building RESTful APIs, FHIR APIs, event-driven architectures and distributed backend services.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale large-scale healthcare interoperability solutions for secure, standards-based health data exchange.
• Define technical direction for FHIR implementation, API architecture, interoperability frameworks, and distributed services.
• Develop Patient Access, Provider Directory, Bulk FHIR APIs and related interoperability services.
• Integrate with EHR/EMR platforms, HIE/HIN networks, payers, laboratories, pharmacies, wearables, and digital health ecosystems.
• Mentor engineers through architecture reviews and knowledge sharing.
