Job summary

Google is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for Infrastructure, Core, based in San Jose, CA. You will own outcomes, influence stakeholders, and tackle ambiguous problems across large-scale distributed systems.

You will design, implement, test, and deploy core infrastructure components, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive technical direction and ensure high reliability and performance. In-person interviews are typical.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects.
• Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers.
• Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines.
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
