Job summary

Atomic Machines is seeking a Staff Infrastructure Engineer to own the build system and CI/CD for the Matter Compiler fleet. You will design, build, operate, and improve infrastructure across a multi-package monorepo and deploy software to thousands of devices across metros by 2027.

The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership, automated decision making, and driving adoption across teams. Onsite work five days a week in Emeryville or Santa Clara, CA; salary ranges with equity and benefits are

Qualifications

• Need deep fundamentals in build reproducibility and caching.
• Experience designing failure paths with concrete timesouts and safe states.
• Record of production incidents diagnosed with root cause, mechanism, measurement and fix.
• Experience getting other engineers to adopt infrastructure you built and driving adoption.

Responsibilities

• Own the build system for a 40-package monorepo targeting three architectures.
• Own CI/CD end to end, including rollback and metrics to reduce failures.
• Design and operate the fleet deployment path with immutable artifacts and staged rollout.
• Define production signals and runbooks for on-call engineers and enable auto-remediation where appropriate.
• Own build-runner security: short-lived credentials, rotation, and secret scanning in CI.
• Collaborate with IT on GitLab, network, and identity boundaries.
