Job summary

Snap Inc. seeks a Staff Technical Lead to define strategy and technical direction for Storage, Caching, and Identity infrastructure. You will lead multi-quarter initiatives, design scalable backend systems, and mentor engineers across teams to improve reliability and performance.

You will partner with Infrastructure and Product Engineering to drive platform investments, raise engineering velocity, and explore responsible AI applications to infrastructure at scale.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of software development experience or 8+ years with a Master’s degree
• Experience as a technical lead, domain expert, or owner of complex initiatives
• Experience building and operating backend systems or distributed systems in production environments
• Strong foundation in system design: APIs, service architecture, storage concepts, observability

Responsibilities

• Define multi-quarter and multi-year roadmaps for service infrastructure
• Design, build, and operate foundational backend infrastructure at scale
• Mentor engineers and drive high-impact technical initiatives from concept to rollout
• Collaborate with infrastructure and product teams to align on direction and investments
• Improve developer and operator experience and drive engineering velocity at scale
• Lead best practices for reliability, observability, incident response, and cost efficiency
