Toast’s Staff Infrastructure Engineer on the Compute & Storage Platform designs, builds, and operates foundational distributed systems powering Toast as the company expands into international markets and broadens its product offerings to encompass retail.

You will bridge the gap between core infrastructure and cutting-edge product development—building low-latency state and storage systems, scalable compute clusters, and high-throughput streaming pipelines that enable Toast product delivery

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
• Fluency in Python, Go, or similar language for infrastructure automation, tooling, or backend development.
• Deep experience operating and tuning enterprise databases at scale (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and non-relational stores (DynamoDB, OpenSearch).
• Experience with containerized environments and orchestration tools (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes).
• Solid understanding of SRE principles including monitoring, alerting, health checks, and troubleshooting in high-traffic environments.

Responsabilités

• Architect, deploy, and manage low-latency, highly available storage solutions (RDS Postgres, Aurora Postgres, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, S3).
• Ensure sub-second end-user latency and high throughput across storage engines to support Toast products.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and compute pipelines for AI-driven PDLC.
• Right-size compute/storage resources and manage AWS costs without sacrificing reliability or latency SLAs.
