Job summary

Heron Power Electronics seeks a Staff Industrial Designer in San Francisco to shape products, experiences, and the visual language of our cutting-edge power electronics. This senior role centers on industrial design at the core, spanning physical product design, product UX, visual communication, and brand development.

You will work closely with the Head of Design and engineers to move concepts from sketch to production, balancing performance, manufacturability, cost, and user needs while raising

Qualifications

• Significant professional experience designing and shipping physical products with strong industrial design thinking and craft.
• Strong fundamentals in form development, proportion, architecture, CMF, ergonomics, and detailing.
• 3D skills and experience developing concepts through CAD, rendering, prototyping, and physical models.
• Experience collaborating with engineering teams within technical, manufacturing, cost, and schedule constraints.
• Strong graphic and visual communication skills, including layout, typography, and information hierarchy.

Responsibilities

• Drive industrial design efforts across Heron's power electronics products from architecture to production.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, thermal, manufacturing, and software engineers to translate constraints into solutions.
• Explore product architecture, form, materials, finishes, interfaces, and serviceability.
• Create sketches, CAD models, prototypes, renderings, and diagrams to communicate concepts.
• Define how users interact with products including installation, operation, and maintenance.
• Develop clear visual communication and brand graphics for documentation and communication.
