Job summary

Canonical is hiring a staff-level software engineer for Identity Management to modernize and expand authentication across Canonical’s products and websites. You will own design and delivery, collaborate with a distributed team, and contribute to Juju charms for operational concerns.

This remote role supports EMEA and AMER regions, with travel 2–4 weeks per year for internal and external events. Strong focus on secure coding and open standards is expected.

Qualifications

• Staff-level software engineer with IAM experience and strong coding discipline.
• Familiarity with OpenID, OAuth, LDAP and authentication standards.
• Experience writing secure, scalable APIs and working on distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of IAM features across Canonical products.
• Write web service APIs in Go and Python for CLI and web clients.
• Review peers' code and shape engineering quality standards.
• Collaborate on authentication/authorization strategies for web services.
