Job summary

Capella Space in Louisville, CO is seeking a Staff Electrical Harness Design Engineer to own full-cycle harness designs from concept to flight readiness, collaborating with systems, manufacturing, mechanical, EE and RF teams to deliver high‑reliability, space‑ready harnesses.

You will guide the Harness team on topics, participate in reviews, and drive design excellence while ensuring compliance with NASA/IPC standards and ITAR guidelines for space hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience/education
• 5+ years’ experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex harnesses
• Experience with full product lifecycle design, validation, and integration
• Knowledge of PCBA interfaces and collaboration with electrical design teams to define harnessing
• Understanding of RF cabling, components, and testing
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills
• Strong knowledge of harness standards (NASA-STD-8739.4, IPC/WHMA-A-620)
• Experience with SolidWorks or CAD applications
• Strong knowledge of Zuken or similar harness design tools
• Experience in engineering product lifecycle management tools
• Strong knowledge of cable assembly design
• Understanding of EMC/EMI and Electro Magnetic Effects (EME)
• ITAR compliance awareness for U.S. space projects

Responsibilities

• Design system-level harnesses from power distribution to high-speed data
• Own harness design lifecycle and implement best practices
• Collaborate with mechanical, RF, electrical, and systems teams for integration
• Serve as technical contact for wire, cable, connector, and harness suppliers
• Support supplier non-conformances and drive corrective actions
• Provide input to schedule, hardware requirements, and process improvements
• Define test plans and verification strategies for flight readiness
