Job description

This is a specialized role requiring physical interaction with hardware equipment in a simulated data center environment, utilizing Google labs, power, and safety equipment. Regular development and processing of engineering hardware must be performed on site.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience in hardware systems design, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
• 3 years of experience in technical leadership.
• Experience with power circuit design and signal integrity.

Preferred qualifications:

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience with hardware design and bring-up.
• 3 years of experience in technical leadership or management.
• Experience with PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, USB, SPI, etc.

Responsibilities:

• Gather system requirements, define architecture, execute hardware design, and validate products.
• Lead hardware bring-up, validation, NPI, deployment, and sustaining efforts.
• Drive system development from concept to production.
• Lead debugging and root cause analysis of deployed systems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Hardware, Software, Power, Mechanical, Thermal, Validation, Signal Integrity, Manufacturing, and external vendors.

The role involves working on Machine Learning/AI hardware systems projects to support current and future data center deployments. You will coordinate with Product teams, ASIC/FPGA, Software, Verification, manufacturing, and field teams to ensure system success and manufacturability.

The Google ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization designs and manages hardware, software, machine learning, and systems infrastructure for Google services and Cloud. We focus on security, efficiency, and reliability, shaping the future of hyperscale computing, including Google Cloud’s Vertex AI and Gemini models.

The US base salary range is $174,000-$258,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary determination considers role, level, location, skills, experience, and education. Specifics will be shared by the recruiter.
