We’re seeking a Staff Platform Engineer, in this remote position, to lead infrastructure and platform engineering across Azure and AWS environments. This role is ideal for a highly driven, self-managed engineer with a passion for building robust cloud platforms and mentoring others. You will design and support systems using modern DevOps practices, infrastructure as code, and observability tooling, with a strong emphasis on full-stack system alerting, logging, and monitoring.
As a senior technical leader, you’ll shape our platform direction, drive automation, and foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, optimizing deployment workflows for security, speed, and reliability
- Architect and implement infrastructure on Azure and AWS using Terraform and immutable infrastructure patterns
- Automate infrastructure and operations using Bash, PowerShell, and/or Python
- Build and manage robust observability systems using Azure and AWS tools to support logging, metrics, and alerting
- Collaborate with application and data teams to ensure platform capabilities meet engineering needs
- Lead platform initiatives, establish best practices, and ensure infrastructure reliability, scalability, and performance
- Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing to foster a culture of continuous improvement
- Act as a strategic partner in shaping technical direction and infrastructure vision
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide technical leadership during incidents
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7+ years in platform, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering roles
- 3+ years experience hands-on in Azure
- 3+ years experience hands-on in AWS
- 1+ years experience in multi-cloud with cross-cloud VPN
- Proven experience implementing and maintaining observability solutions, especially using Azure and AWS tools
- Experience working in infrastructure or platform teams practicing Scrum or Kanban, or in SRE squad model
- Strong proficiency in Terraform, infrastructure-as-code, and automation
- Hands-on experience scripting with Bash, PowerShell, or Python
- Expertise with GitHub and GitHub Actions for source control and CI/CD automation
- Deep understanding of cloud security, scalability, and cost-efficiency
- Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and mentor other engineers
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; thrives in collaborative and inclusive teams
- Experience coaching both hard and soft skills within team members
- Self-starter with exceptional organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
- Excitement for start-up mentality
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with Azure Databricks or similar data platform tools
- Experience with Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, or similar serverless tools
- Hands-on experience with Azure Monitor, Azure Application Insights, AWS CloudWatch
- Familiarity with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, ECS)
- Knowledge of observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
- Experience working in regulated or enterprise environments
- Experience with cloud cost forecasting, tracking, and management, including Reserved Instances and Cloud Savings Plans
- Experience with AI/ML operations
- Agile (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban) Certification
Benefits:
- The Seattle base salary range for this full-time position is $188k-$216k, determined by role, level, and location. Compensation is also influenced by individual skills, experience, and training.
