Job description

We’re seeking a Staff Platform Engineer, in this remote position, to lead infrastructure and platform engineering across Azure and AWS environments. This role is ideal for a highly driven, self-managed engineer with a passion for building robust cloud platforms and mentoring others. You will design and support systems using modern DevOps practices, infrastructure as code, and observability tooling, with a strong emphasis on full-stack system alerting, logging, and monitoring.

As a senior technical leader, you’ll shape our platform direction, drive automation, and foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, optimizing deployment workflows for security, speed, and reliability
2. Architect and implement infrastructure on Azure and AWS using Terraform and immutable infrastructure patterns
3. Automate infrastructure and operations using Bash, PowerShell, and/or Python
4. Build and manage robust observability systems using Azure and AWS tools to support logging, metrics, and alerting
5. Collaborate with application and data teams to ensure platform capabilities meet engineering needs
6. Lead platform initiatives, establish best practices, and ensure infrastructure reliability, scalability, and performance
7. Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing to foster a culture of continuous improvement
8. Act as a strategic partner in shaping technical direction and infrastructure vision
9. Participate in on-call rotations and provide technical leadership during incidents

Minimum Qualifications:

1. 7+ years in platform, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering roles
2. 3+ years experience hands-on in Azure
3. 3+ years experience hands-on in AWS
4. 1+ years experience in multi-cloud with cross-cloud VPN
5. Proven experience implementing and maintaining observability solutions, especially using Azure and AWS tools
6. Experience working in infrastructure or platform teams practicing Scrum or Kanban, or in SRE squad model
7. Strong proficiency in Terraform, infrastructure-as-code, and automation
8. Hands-on experience scripting with Bash, PowerShell, or Python
9. Expertise with GitHub and GitHub Actions for source control and CI/CD automation
10. Deep understanding of cloud security, scalability, and cost-efficiency
11. Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and mentor other engineers
12. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; thrives in collaborative and inclusive teams
13. Experience coaching both hard and soft skills within team members
14. Self-starter with exceptional organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
15. Excitement for start-up mentality

Additional Qualifications:

1. Experience with Azure Databricks or similar data platform tools
2. Experience with Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, or similar serverless tools
3. Hands-on experience with Azure Monitor, Azure Application Insights, AWS CloudWatch
4. Familiarity with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, ECS)
5. Knowledge of observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
6. Experience working in regulated or enterprise environments
7. Experience with cloud cost forecasting, tracking, and management, including Reserved Instances and Cloud Savings Plans
8. Experience with AI/ML operations
9. Agile (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban) Certification

Benefits:

• The Seattle base salary range for this full-time position is $188k-$216k, determined by role, level, and location. Compensation is also influenced by individual skills, experience, and training.
