Job summary

Medallia is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer for its GovCloud platform in the US. The role blends leadership with hands-on work to scale a highly available cloud ecosystem on AWS GovCloud and Kubernetes.

You will mentor teams, improve reliability, and drive secure, compliant operations in a regulated environment. The role is hybrid near Tysons, VA, with in-office collaboration three days per week and remote flexibility.

Qualifications

• Must reside in the U.S. with Citizenship or a Green Card to meet AWS GovCloud requirements.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field.
• 8+ years in Site Reliability/Platform engineering or 5+ years with Staff-level scope.
• Production experience with Kubernetes, AWS core services, Terraform, Git, CI/CD, Linux, and PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate highly available, secure cloud infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes.
• Operate AWS networking end-to-end including VPCs, routing, security groups, and DNS.
• Manage PostgreSQL in production with replication, backups, and performance tuning.
• Ensure reliability of Medallia apps by monitoring, incident response, and problem reduction.
• Develop and maintain Terraform IaC and Kubernetes deployment workflows.
• Improve observability, alerting, and incident communications across teams.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, release, and customer teams to deploy changes safely.
• Lead platform upgrades, security patching, and compliance-driven maintenance.
• Participate in on-call rotation and drive post-incident review improvements.
• Document systems and runbooks for operability and handoffs.
• Use AI-assisted tooling with attention to security and data boundaries.
