Job summary

General Motors seeks a Staff Software Engineer specialized in Golang to design, develop, and maintain high-performance distributed systems that underpin GM’s enterprise data architecture. You will mentor engineers, drive technical excellence, and advance SAFe practices in an Agile environment.

You will collaborate with product, data science, and operations teams to deliver robust software, perform code reviews, and champion CI/CD, testing, and security practices across the full lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in software development with a significant focus on Golang.
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing scalable and high-performance distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture principles and patterns.
• Demonstrated ability to provide Cross-Functional Leadership, influencing technical decisions and driving consensus across diverse teams.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement robust and scalable software applications primarily using Golang, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
• Lead the technical design and architecture of complex software systems, ensuring alignment with enterprise data architecture principles and objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, define solutions, and deliver high-quality software.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical growth and continuous learning.
• Drive group problem-solving initiatives, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions.
• Contribute to SAFe practices to ensure efficient and predictable software delivery.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure maintainability, reliability, and security of software products.
