Job summary

Delve Underground is seeking a Staff Geotechnical Engineer to join our California team options including Walnut Creek, San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Irvine, or San Diego. The role supports tunneling, underground facilities, and water infrastructure projects with a focus on practical, well-documented analyses and reports.

The candidate will work under senior engineers, perform geotechnical analyses, and contribute to multi-discipline teams across diverse regional projects.

Qualifications

• BS in Geotechnical/Civil or Geological Engineering; MS preferred.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
• Microsoft Office and Bluebeam experience.
• Familiarity with geotechnical analysis software such as Rocscience/Bentley.
• Knowledge in Python scripting preferred.
• Ability to manage concurrent assignments and priorities.
• Strong analytical and technical communication skills.
• Willingness to work in the field and travel for short-term assignments.

Responsibilities

• Support geotechnical investigation programs from planning to data reporting.
• Perform analyses and design calculations for tunnels, shafts, foundations, and excavation support.
• Conduct geologic and seismic hazard evaluations.
• Work under supervision of senior engineers with technical oversight.
• Write technical reports documenting analyses and recommendations.
• Assist in preparing construction drawings and specifications for underground infra.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team on complex projects.
• Demonstrate clear writing and communication with internal staff and clients.
