GFT is seeking a Staff Geotechnical Engineer to join our Dams & Hydraulics team in California. The role follows a hybrid work model requiring regular attendance in Roseville or Oakland, CA, and involves collaboration with civil engineers, geologists, and designers on projects from assessment through construction.

The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering degree with a PE license and 5–10 years of geotechnical experience, plus proficiency in GeoStudio, gINT/Open Ground, LPILE, SHAFT, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
• PE license required.
• 5–10 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software (GeoStudio, gINT/Open Ground, LPILE, SHAFT).

Responsibilities

• Develop scopes of work, schedules, and budgets with clients.
• Plan subsurface investigations and lab testing programs.
• Log soil borings and collect field data.
• Observe geotechnical aspects of construction.
• Perform analyses including slope stability and liquefaction.
• Prepare reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Design geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring.
• Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Review contractor drawings and advise on design changes.
• Travel up to 30% to offices or sites.
