Staff Geochemist - Mining Department
Location: Remote (Preferred locations: Colorado, Nevada, or Arizona)
Compensation: $28.37 - $40.86/hour (negotiable based on experience)
Position Summary
We are looking for a talented and motivated Geochemist with 0–5 years of experience to support a variety of environmental and mining-related projects. This position is ideal for individuals with a solid academic foundation in geochemistry and an interest in applying their knowledge to real-world challenges involving water quality, geochemical modeling, and site characterization. This is an excellent opportunity to grow professionally within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team and gain valuable field, laboratory, and consulting experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply geochemical principles to evaluate water-rock interactions, contaminant transport, and environmental water quality
- Perform geochemical modeling using tools such as PHREEQC, MIN3P, and Geochemist’s Workbench to support site evaluations, remediation planning, and impact assessments
- Analyze and interpret geochemical and hydrogeological data sets from field and laboratory investigations
- Contribute to technical reports, proposals, and presentations with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and scientific rigor
- Collaborate with geologists, hydrogeologists, environmental scientists, and engineers across disciplines and project phases
- Support field activities including groundwater sampling, site inspections, and data collection as needed
- Maintain high standards of quality and safety in all project work
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Geology
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Geochemistry or a closely related field (required)
- 0–5 years of professional experience in geochemistry, hydrogeology, or environmental science
- Strong academic or practical experience in:
- Environmental water quality assessments
- Geochemical modeling (PHREEQC, MIN3P, Geochemist’s Workbench, or similar tools)
- Water-rock interaction processes
- Basic hydrology concepts and applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in or with the mining industry
- Familiarity with laboratory geochemistry techniques or analytical instrumentation
- Field experience conducting groundwater sampling, well logging, or related tasks
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed/remote team
