Job summary

OpenAI is seeking experienced Staff+ full-stack engineers to shape purchasing experiences and monetization across OpenAI products. You’ll work on checkout flows, product APIs, and shared components, balancing product judgment with technical depth.

Qualifications

• Staff-level or higher technical ownership and architecture experience.
• Strong experience building sophisticated web apps and backend APIs.
• Proven track record delivering customer-facing products from idea to production.
• Experience with frontend performance, latency, and API design.
• Ability to lead across teams and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build purchasing experiences end to end, from frontend interactions through APIs and backend integrations.
• Improve checkout conversion, performance, and reliability through experimentation and analytics.
• Develop shared checkout components and monetization capabilities for new pricing models and distribution channels.
• Partner with Product, Design, Growth, and Data Science to identify opportunities, define experiments, and evaluate results.
• Lead initiatives from exploration to rollout and ongoing operation.
• Shape frontend and product API architecture for maintainability and reuse across products.
• Collaborate across engineering teams and business functions to turn complex requirements into simple experiences.
• Provide technical leadership through hands-on development, design reviews, and mentorship.
